What is Wellness?

Many of us associate wellness primarily with physical health aspects like nutrition, exercise, and weight management, but it encompasses much more. Wellness is a holistic integration of physical, mental and emotional well-being, involving nourishing the body, stimulating the mind and nurturing the soul.

There are eight dimensions of wellness: social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, financial and physical well-being.

Ways to Integrate Wellness into Your Daily Routine

  1. Start your day early and avoid hitting the snooze button.

  2. ·Avoid checking your phone for social media first thing in the morning. Keep your mornings gadget-free.

  3. Hydrate your body by drinking a glass or two of water on an empty stomach.

  4. Spend 15 minutes in the morning sun to get your vitamin D.

  5. Engage in some exercise, meditate and complete a few chores.

  6. Enjoy a nutritious breakfast with your family.

  7. Plan your day with intention. Complete your professional tasks on time and maintain open communication with your superiors and peers.

  8. Avoid eating at your desk. Opt for more homemade meals and steer clear of sugary drinks.

  9. Take a short walk after meals.

  10. After work, spend quality time with your family. Disconnect from devices to reconnect with loved ones and nurture real friendships.

  11. Limit binge-watching web series. Instead, engage in productive activities each day.

  12. Turn off electronics at least 30 minutes before bed to ensure a restful sleep.

  13. Refrain from working on weekends and focus on relaxation.

SOCIAL

Build strong connections with family, friends and neighbors to enhance well-being. Engage actively with others and maintain meaningful relationships.

EMOTIONAL

Focus on positivity, forgive yourself, and release the past. Surround yourself with joyful people, manage stress with a smile, and enjoy the present moment.

SPIRITUAL

Discover your purpose and pursue your passion. Spend time in nature, help others, meditate and enjoy hobbies.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Create a joyful living space with clear boundaries between home and work. Embrace minimalism and a green lifestyle.

OCCUPATIONAL

Pursue a meaningful and enjoyable career. Continuously learn, build strong workplace connections, and feel inspired daily.

INTELLECTUAL

Embrace new ideas, unleash creativity and learn daily. Enjoy reading, mind games, local explorations, and ensure good sleep for energy.

FINANCIAL

Manage spending with purpose through budgeting. Save and invest for a transformed future.

PHYSICAL

Adopt a healthy lifestyle with balanced eating, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and reduced alcohol and smoking. Celebrate each healthy choice.
